Australia bowler Doug Bollinger has received an official reprimand for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the fourth day's play in the second cricket Test against the West Indies in Adelaide.

 

Bollinger was charged with a Level 1 offence, contrary to Section 2.1.3 of the code, which relates to "showing dissent at an umpire's decision". The charge was laid by on-field umpires Asad Rauf and Ian Gould as well as third umpire Bruce Oxenford.

 

The offence relates to an incident that took place in the 52nd over of the West Indies' second innings when the umpire turned down the 28-year-old pacer's appeal for lbw against Brendan Nash. The player pleaded guilty at an early stage and, under the provisions of the new code, the matter was determined by Chris Broad of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees without a full hearing.

 

Sanctions included in Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct can range from an official reprimand up to 50 per cent of the match fee.
