Ocky back for third season

East Lancs have re-signed Ockert Erasmus as professional for a third season.

 

The 24 year-old South African all rounder has so far hit 429 runs at 28.6 with three half centuries and he has also taken 52 wickets at 14.0 in his dual role as captain and professional. Erasmus also played a leading role in taking East Lancs to the semi finals of the Worsley Cup taking 5-21 including a hat-trick in the epic 2nd Round tie with Enfield.

 

The off spinning all rounder had a good first season in 2011 with 627 runs at 33.0 and 74 wickets at 19.5. He hit seven half centuries and took five wickets in an innings eight times to earn second season in 2012.

 

East Lancs Chairman Larry Pearson said: “Ocki’s re-signing for a third season is excellent news. In a challenging season he has done very well both on and off the field of play, being very much involved with junior and senior cricket at the club. He is liked by all at East Lancs and we look forward to his return next year.”

 

Erasmus is also the third South African to be signed up again after Shadley van Schalkwyk at Colne and Pieter Malan at Ramsbottom.
