South African Colin Ingram joins Glamorgan in 2015 on a three-year contract under the Kolpak ruling, with the left-hander being an assertive top-order batsman with a wealth of experience in domestic cricket in his native land, besides winning representative honours for South Africa and appearing in 31 One-Day Internationals plus 9 T20 Internationals, He also has experience of county cricket having played for Somerset during 2014 when fellow South African Alviro Petersen was absent on Test duty.

 

Born in Port Elizabeth in 1985, Colin made his first-class debut for Free State in October 2004 and, after completing his studies at the University of Free State, he established a regular place in the top-order of the Eastern Province line-up. After representing South Africa A, he made his One-Day International debut in October 2010 against Zimbabwe, and duly became the first Springbok to score a century on his first appearance in limited-overs international cricket as he struck 124.

 

Besides playing in T20 Internationals for South Africa, Colin has appeared in the Indian Premier League for the Delhi Daredevils, as well as having a first taste of English conditions during a two-year stint in the Derbyshire Premier League with Spondon CC for whom he amassed 2,401 runs at a healthy average of 57.

 

In 2013 Colin was also a member of the South African side for the ICC Champions Trophy and in the group game at The SWALEC Stadium, he scored an impressive 73 when opening the batting against the West Indies, besides winning the Man-of-the-Match Award as his efforts in the rain-affected contest which helped his side progress to the semi-finals.
