Mumbai, June 9 : Former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara has been chosen to ring the bell at Lord's on Thursday, the first day of the 3rd Test match between England and Sri Lanka at Lord's.

Interestingly, few Sri Lankans, including Sidath Wettimuny, Sanath Jayasuriya, Kushil Gunsekera, who have received this honour to ring the bell at Lord's in the past will be in attendance on Thursday.
Kushil Gunasekera, the first non-Test cricketer, who rang the bell in 2011 feels it was a great honour to signal for the commencement of the day's play at Lord's.
Speaking exclusively from London, he said, "being a non-Test cricketer, though I have played the First Class cricket, I was taken a back when the invitation was sent to me. It is indeed a special privilege and honor to do so. It has been a tradition at Lord's and I was happy to be part of it".
Interestingly, Wettimuny and Gunasekera, along with many other Sri Lankan players have been invited by the MCC.
"We have been doing charity work for the under privileged people in our country. The MCC has invited the Foundation of Goodness for this Test match", Gunasekera said.
"There will be a dance show by the troop of about 22 boys and girls, who have been invited from rural areas of Sri Lanka. They will show their skill during lunch break on the second day (Friday) of the Test. This will be an opportunity for them to show their talent in front of spectators".
