With reference to the alleged incident during the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne reported in some sections of the Australian press against an unnamed player, PCB's Comments are as follows:
1. The alleged offence has so far not been formally registered with the police or with the relevant tribunal. The security & management of the hotel at which the incident is supposed to have taken place is also not aware of any such incident. It also needs to be explained why it has taken over three weeks for the complaint to be formally registered.
2. Nevertheless, Chairman PCB has ordered a thorough investigation by the Management of the alleged incident. Legal advice has been sought and the Pakistan High Commissioner in Canberra informed. Cricket Australia has also been consulted.
3. After the thorough investigation is completed, PCB will decide on the disciplinary action, if any, that is to be taken. Exemplary action will be taken in case the alleged charge is found to have a basis in truth.
