Say it quietly, but Mark Lawson is a young, English leg spinner. Although only a handful of matches into his career, his membership of the wrist spin creed has inevitably already created much interest. It is to be hoped that the failed international careers of Chris Schofield and Ian Salisbury will actually lessen the pressure and spotlight on Lawson, and that after the formers experience any premature fast tracking into the international arena is unlikely. It will be intriguing to see how Yorkshire handle and develop Lawson when so many of their home fixtures are played on greenish Headingley wickets under leaden Leeds skies. With one 5 wicket haul under his belt already though (at the spin receptive Scarborough), it is clear that Lawson has potential.
