The National Selection Committee, in consultation with the Captain and Coach of the Pakistan Team, has recommended the following players for the third Test match against India starting from 29 January 2006 at National Stadium Karachi: 
1. Inzamam-ul-Haq (Captain)2. Younis Khan (Vice-Captain)
3. Mohammad Yousuf
4. Abdul Razzaq
5. Shoaib Akhtar
6. Shahid Afridi
7. Mohammad Sami
8. Salman Butt
9. Naved-ul-Hasan
10. Kamran Akmal
11. Arshad Khan
12. Danish Kaneria
13. Imran Farhat
14. Mohammad Asif
15. Umar Gul
16. Faisal Iqbal
 
Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has accepted the Selection Committees recommendation. 
PCB would like to point out that Shoaib Malik has not been considered for selection as he needs to be with his family in the wake of his fathers untimely death. 
Hasan Raza could not find a place in the squad as he has a hairline fracture suffered during a recent domestic match. 
Asim Kamal had to skip the ongoing domestic tournament because of his father's illness and therefore could not be considered for selection. 
Faisal Iqbal and Umar Gul have been included in the squad due to their impressive performance in domestic cricket.
