by Pakistan Cricket Board

Event:India in Pakistan 2005/06

DateLine: 6th February 2006

Media Release - 6 February 2006

Ticketing

A large number of requests have been received for complimentary passes for the forthcoming ODIs. Accordingly, PCB would like to reiterate its ticketing policy, as follows:

No complimentary passes are being printed and therefore none are available. Tickets are however, on sale at Bank Alfalah outlets at the prescribed dates and times at the following prices:

Rs. 2000, 1200, 100 at Peshawar and Multan.

Rs.2500, 1500, 500, 300 and Rs. 100 at Rawalpindi, Karachi and Lahore.

As regards requests for complimentary passes, the following directive discouraging VIP culture has been conveyed by the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.

The Heads of all Ministries/Divisions should discourage their officials from seeking complimentary passes from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the ongoing and future cricket series in Pakistan. The PCB has not catered for issuance of complimentary passes, which is endorsed, in order to discourage VIP culture in the country.

All Ministries/Divisions are requested to comply with these instructions.

It needs to be emphasized that the highest personages of Pakistan have purchased tickets for their families and staff during 2004 series with India and for the present series and watched matches from the stands. There is no reason why family and friends of senior personalities cannot buy their tickets like other cricket lovers and take their place in the stands. The Chairman’s boxes which are already over-subscribed, can only accommodate a limited number of invitees and it is not possible to allow their families to accompany them.

To enable cricket fans to purchase tickets for the ODIs, the following schedule for ticket sales may be noted (specific Bank Alfalah branches are notified through newspaper advertisements):

3. It may be noted that all tickets will have bar-codes that will be checked at entry points to prevent illegal entry.

4. PCB reminds all cricket fans that the demand for tickets far exceeds supply and that tickets are likely to be sold out - especially in the highest demand categories - within a short time after opening hours. Tickets have already been sold on the internet and a proportion of the tickets have been sold to Indian fans expected for the ODIs. Accordingly the number of tickets available for sale is limited.
