Gareth Rees made his first-class debut for Glamorgan against Gloucestershire at Cheltenham in 2006, shortly after graduating with first-class honours in maths and physics from Bath University.
 
The left-handed opening batsman made his Glamorgan 2nd XI debut in 2003, during which he also played for Wales Minor Counties. He subsequently played some impressive innings for the county 2nd XI and the Wales side, as well as in club cricket for Llanelli and Gowerton, and after four half-centuries in 2006 for the county`s 2nd XI, he made his Championship debut at Cheltenham. 
He is also a talented rugby player, either at full-back or centre, having played for the Wales Under 17 team as well as Llanelli Under 21`s.(Article: Copyright © 2006 Dr.A.K.Hignell)
