England and Lancashire fast bowler James Anderson begins the next stage in his rehabilitation programme at Turf Moor on Saturday, playing in Burnley's crucial Lancashire League game against Bacup.

Anderson has missed the entire season with a stress fracture of the back but he has been included in England's 30 man squad for the ICC Champions Trophy in October.

The 24 year-old approached Burnley himself with the backing of Lancashire and England with a view to playing competitive cricket again. The Lancashire League Executive confirmed that League Rules permitted Anderson to return to his home town club where players retain their amateur status as County Contracted Players under Rule 31.

Burnley have named Anderson, who played his last Lancashire League game in 2002, for both of this weekend's matches.
