DHA Cricket Team qualifies for Final after pitch dug up by Pakistan Cricket Board

1. The second semi-final of Patron's Trophy Grade-II Tournament was scheduled at LCCA Ground Lahore between Army and DHA from 29th November to 1st December, 2006. As per the report of Referee and Umpires some unknown persons dug the match pitch and some practice pitches in the early morning of the last day. The scores of both the teams were:
DHA 405/9 wickets in 83 overs
Army 263/8 wickets in 73 Overs

 

2. Both Umpires asked both the teams to play the remaining match on the other pitch but Army refused to play on the new pitch. The Referee and Umpires referred the case to PCB.

 

3. Mr Shafiq Ahmed, Chairman National Cricket Tournament Committee consulted all the other members of the committee and also Director Cricket Operations, Mr. Salim Altaf. The rules are silent in this type of case. It has been unanimously decided that the rules applied on Final matches (Knock-out Matches) will also apply on Semifinals which are also knock-out matches.

 

4. In view of the above DHA Cricket Team has qualified for the Final of Patron's Trophy Grade-II 2006-2007 on the basis of better Net Run Rate.
