Media Release - 15 January 2007

In regard to the sledging incident on the fourth day of the first test at Centurion South Africa. Pakistan team management in South Africa headed by Team Manager Talat Ali has officially launched an appeal to match referee Chris Broad.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) Chief Executive Malcolm Speed has also taken the notice of the occurrence by saying that this is a level three offence which must be probed into.
The Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Dr. Nasim Ashraf said that we are happy and satisfied about the prompt action taken by ICC. He said that sledging and passing racial remarks is totally an unsportsman like act which must be condemned at all level.
The Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board also said that Pakistan consider South Africans as the greatest ambassadors of human dignity and respect, he hoped that the act of one individual will not effect the morale of Pakistani team and the team will continue fighting as one unit for the rest of the matches. The Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board congratulated the South African team on winning the first test at Centurion.
