Player:PG Fulton

DateLine: 19th February 2007

An aggressive middle order batsman who can be counted upon to play a long innings should the situation demand it Peter Fulton first made it to the headlines by scoring 301 for Canterbury in the four-day match against Auckland in 2002-03. It was the fifth highest maiden century in first class history, the sixth triple century by a New Zealander but the first ever scored by a non-Otago player. The following year he really blossomed scoring two centuries on his way to an impressive tally of 728 runs at an average of 42.82. These scores duly impressed the selectors and after representing New Zealand A on the tour of South Africa Fulton was included in the senior squad for their of Bangladesh in November 2004. Since then he has been a regular member of the ODI squad and has an excellent record peaking with a splendid 112 against Sri Lanka at Napier in 2005-06. In the same series he got two half centuries. Recently drafted into the Test team Fulton hasn’t done badly in his limited opportunities hitting 75 against the West Indies at Wellington in 2005-06 before being included for the ICC Champions Trophy in India in 2006. Fulton has played extensively in English club cricket.
