An opening batsman who really believes in going for the bowling from the very start – an approach confirmed by his impressive strike rate of nearly 84 in ODIs even if his average of less than 18 speaks of the inconsistency - Piet Rinke is also a medium pace bowler who can swing the ball both ways. Comparatively new to the squad – he has played all his ODIs in 2006 – he has made himself a regular thanks mainly to his breezy batting. His top score is 72 which he has made twice – against Kenya and against Canada the latter being scored off only 62 balls with eleven fours and two sixes. He had a fine start to his international career for in three of his first ODIs his scores were 42, 52 and 72 and in the other he had figures of two for 11 off 1.5 overs – his best figures in limited overs cricket.
