Media Release - 18 March 2007

Lahore, March 18: While commenting on Pakistan Cricket Teams poor performance in the World Cup, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Dr Nasim Ashraf has today expressed deep disappointment in this regard. He said that the Board and he himself were as disturbed over the result as the rest of the nation.
Dr Ashraf said that having taken over as the Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee less than six months back he and other members of the Board had decided to maintain continuity and stability as the best option to strengthen the team. Every effort was therefore made to achieve the same in the short term context. Dr Ashraf further said that as he had promised earlier, a comprehensive new structure and plan for the development of cricket in Pakistan would be launched after the World Cup.
A meeting of the Ad-hoc Committee of PCB has therefore been scheduled for March 31, 2007 in Lahore following the teams return, to finalize the strategy after which the future action plan to build a strong cricket set up would be announced.
