ICC appoints umpires for Super Eight stage of Cricket World Cup by Icc Media Release

The International Cricket Council today announced details of match referee and umpire appointments for the upcoming Super Eight stage of the ICC Cricket World Cup.

 

Nine members of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires have been named to stand during that stage while four members of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees have also been appointed to officiate.

 

The first match in the Super Eight stage takes place tomorrow (Tuesday) between hosts the West Indies and defending champions Australia in Antigua . This match will be refereed by Chris Broad with Aleem Dar and Asad Rauf the on-field umpires. Third umpire will be Billy Bowden while Rudi Koertzen will be fourth umpire.

 

The action will then switch to Guyana on Wednesday for the game between South Africa and Sri Lanka . If the Proteas win that they then cannot be overtaken at the top of the LG ICC ODI Championship ladder by the crucial 1 April cut-off date. Jeff Crowe will be the match referee for that game, the on-field umpires will be Steve Bucknor and Daryl Harper, third umpire will be Mark Benson and fourth umpire Simon Taufel.

 

The first part of the Super Eight stage will be held in those two locations of Antigua and Guyana . On 10 April Grenada and Barbados will take over for the remainder of the stage. The semi-finals will be held in Jamaica (on 24 April) and St Lucia (on 25 April) with the final taking place in Barbados on Saturday 28 April. Appointments for those last three matches will be made in due course.

 

The officials, sponsored by Mumbai-headquartered real estate and construction giant HDIL, the same organization that sponsored the umpires and match referees at the ICC Champions Trophy in India, are as follows:
