Johannesburg - The Pakistan Team Management today decided to send the pacer Shoaib Akhtar back home on disciplinary grounds. The decision was taken earlier this morning by the Team Management.
In his statement issued after the final meeting, Manager Talat Ali said, "the decision has been taken on an incident that took place yesterday afternoon at the Centurion Park after the practice session of Pakistan Cricket team. It was reported to us by Mohammad Asif that Shoaib Akhtar had hit him on his leg with a Cricket bat and abused him. After this, the team management investigated the incident and after recording the stagtements of both Mohammad Asif and Shoaib Akhtar, decided to send Shoaib back to Pakistan immediately. The incident was also reported to the PCB Head Offices in Pakistan and the Board management has endorsed this decision."
Mohammad Asif will be fit to play the tournament while Pakistan Team management is sending the replacement request for Shoaib Akhtar to the Board in Pakistan.
