Scorecard: | Ramsbottom v Lowerhouse |
DateLine: 12th May 2008
Rammy received a setback to their prospects, when they were well beaten at Acre Bottom by Lowerhouse. The game replayed from earlier in the month, provided some much needed sunshine on the backs of the players. Despite posting a reasonable score, the home side bowling was a times abject, and the absence of Simon Read was critical.

Having been put into bat, Rammy made a sound start posting a half century partnership for the first wicket, progress was slow however and with the dismissal of Vincent and Hayes in quick succession, the middle order struggled against an accurate bowling attack.
David Bell and Keith Webb contributed, and a quick career best flurry from Toby McLean cracking three huge sixes and two fours gave them a total to defend.
Some tight bowling at the start of the Lowerhouse innings gave some hope, Driver was bowled by McLean, and Mick Haslam picked up the other opener. Lou Vincent bowled tidily, but the home sides absence of another senior bowler was prominent, as at 92 for 4, the pro Brendon Drew started to take charge, and with Charlie Cottam beginning to smite the ball to all parts, the game fell away with 47 runs being scored late on in just 3 overs.
The decision to use the inexperienced Jack Walmsley at a stage when the batsmen were well on top will not have done the young mans confidence any good.(Article: The opinions expressed in this article are those of the author only.
