| Scorecard: | Ramsbottom v Rishton |
DateLine: 19th May 2008
An outstanding all-round performance by Ramsbottom batters and bowlers gave them a convincing victory over League Champions Rishton at Acre Bottom.

The sun shone although there was a chill in the air, as Simon Read invited the visitors to bat first. Two early wickets by paceman Toby McLean stifled their start, and progress was slow. Pakistani professional Saeed Anwar played some powerful shots but was undone by a sharp catch by wicket-keeper Andy Holt, deputizing for the injured Richard Hevingham.
Craig Smith picked up Rishton's tempo with a spirited half-century, and the total of 182 for 5 seemed challenging.
Pro Lou Vincent and in-form Phil Hayes threw down the gauntlet, placing the half century on the board in just 8 overs, both however fell in quick succession, and the pace slowed down, whilst David Bell and Keith Webb played themselves in, they also posted a half century stand before Webb was adjudged lbw., however with support by skipper Simon Read they continued to progress. Bell was finally out for 63 playing on to Seedle, after they had shared 74 runs together, and Ramsbottom had won their first Worsley Cup tie for 3 seasons.
They now meet Haslingden in a second round clash at Bentgate on Saturday 31 May.
