Rain dashes Kolkata hopes, Riders ride out of tournament
by CricketArchive Staff Reporter

Scorecard:Delhi Daredevils v Kolkata Knight Riders
Event:Indian Premier League 2007/08

DateLine: 23rd May 2008

The match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Delhi DareDevils was an important one today for both the teams. With two semi-finals berths up for grabs, and four teams fighting for it, it had to be a crucial tie.

Unfortunately, Delhi has been seeing unseasonal rains for some days now, and today’s match was hit by one, which left the match abandoned, and the Kolkata Knight Riders out of the tournament.

Both the teams got a point each, which took Delhi to 13 points from 13 matches, and Kolkata have 11 from 13. And this means that even if Kolkata win their last match they get to 13 points, but with a Mumbai-Delhi match still to be played, at least one of the two teams would leap-frog over the Knight Riders.

Chennai have two matches to play and are at 14, Mumbai are on 12 with three to play, and Delhi are at 13 with one to play, against Mumbai. The Mumbai-Delhi match at the Kotla now assumes a lot of importance for both the teams.
