Event:Indian Premier League 2009

DateLine: 10th March 2009

The Indian Premier League second edition seems to have run into rough weather again. Sources told television channel CNN-IBN that the police chiefs from the eight states have asked for more gap between matches in the revised schedule for the tournament that is set to begin on April 13. The matches cannot be held in the current form in April and May when the general elections will also be held.

The police chiefs from the eight states that have the venues have written to the Union Home Ministry asking for more gaps between matches. Currently there is no match in the city where election is scheduled for 72 hours on either side of the poll. Home ministry sources say more than 72 hours are needed for deployment of CISF and CRPF forces. It is also learnt that the Intelligence Bureau is likely to advise against holding the matches in the said period.
