Biography:Lieutenant-Colonel, Middlesex Regiment (DSO). Having been wounded five times and received the DSO, Sandys' battery suffered severely and he said he wished he had been killed with his men. Deeply depressed, he shot himself through the mouth on 6th September and lingered until 14th.
