Biography:Awarded MC 1917, bar 1918 and second bar 1919, a treble unique among County Championship cricketers. Appointed OBE 1945 for military services. He was the successful plaintiff in a (then) well-known libel case in 1932, but has been described as 'the archetypal cad'.
