Biography: | CBE (1945) for acting as assistant to Gen Eisenhower with responsibility for financial planning of the D-Day invasion and the subsequent administration of Western Europe. Retired from the Army with the rank of Brigadier. Also awarded Chevalier of the Legion d'Honeur avec Palme and the Croix de Guerre. Joined the Court of the Bank of England in 1949. Director of various banking organisations and helped to build up the funding of the National Art-Collections Fund. |
