John Small, sen's son Eli has been suggested as a candidate for 'Small' in the Kent team, but there is no evidence for this.
KCM gives the dates as 22-24 July, presumably because the newspaper that carries the match report is dated 29 July. But the newspaper is dated by the first day of the period it covers, not the date of publication; moreover, 22-24 July would create a clash with the previous match. 29-31 July must be correct.
