Rain prevented any play on the scheduled second day of this round and an early decision was made to play the second day on the scheduled rest day, making this second day the rest day. When play commenced on the 4th Hooper came to the crease, having been allowed to replace Cornish who had been called away to attend a family funeral. Hooper top scored for Western Australia but on his dismissal at 79 the innings soon folded.
