Match notes
When the ninth A.C.T. wicket fell at 182 it seemed Queensland would have a quite easy target to chase. Smart was then joined by Mackenzie and a further 103 runs were added, the first century partnership for the tenth wicket in all Championships matches. As the second day progressed and Queensland wickets fell it seemed they were headed for defeat but the lower order put up some fine resistance and Queensland took the lead with their last pair at the creases.
