Match notes
In between the Gillette Cup match and the Sheffield Shield match to commence on 15 December Tasmania commenced this match against South East Queensland, scheduled to be played over two days. At the end of the first day it was decided to abandon the two day match and to play a forty over match on the second day. TK Caban of Western Suburbs was the only Metropolitan player in the team, all other players in the South East Queensland team being from country districts. AJ Benneworth was injured and retired from the bowling crease in the course of his fifth over.
