Before the Australians innings commenced, HL Collins noticed that there were 15 fielders; he objected and 4 players returned to the pavilion. When the score reached 24, Collins was sent a message from an MCC official saying that the 4 fielders had to return. He was clearly not happy with this directive and proceeded to play recklessly until his dismissal. The remainder of the Australians innings continued with 15 fielders.
