Notes
--> The first innings of the match was limited to 45 overs; the total overs for both teams was limited to 90 overs
The match became famous locally for not finishing until 2155 and causing several rule changes in the Lincolnshire league.
After 3 rain delays during the game the match should have been called off but neither captain could agree to take the players off the field, with Outcasts captain Martin Thopmson adamant the players should stay on the field and complete the game. Geoffrey Smith the Normanby Park batsman had to leave the field and go and clock in for nights at work before returning to complete his innings, ending on 91.
After the match the fallout from the game played out in the local newspapers, with the Scunthorpe telegraph calling the game "controversial and farcical". A week later they calmed down and invited the Normanby Park players for a picture where they took a team photo in pyjamas and displayed it on the back page of the newspaper.
The league took a dim view of the match and at the 1985 AGM the league proposed a rule change that if a game was off for rain for more than 30 minutes the match became a "timed game" and would finish no later that 6 hours and 30 minutes after the start of the game. The rule would stay in place until 2024.
