During the interval, the Enfield captain was presented with a silver-mounted meerschaum cigar holder and case, a Morocco leather cigar case and also a silver matchbox. On the lid of the matchbox was the inscription "Presented to Mr Arthur Appleby by the Enfield cricket team on the occasion of his 50th birthday, July 22nd 1893".
