Had British Columbia won this match they would have had to return to London, Ontario, to play Quebec for second place. If Manitoba won however that would have resulted in a tie between these two teams and a necessity for a play off the next day. The result would seem to have been arranged and British Columbia easily won the play-off but in the final between the winner of this match and Ontario resulted in an easy win for the latter.
