The match was played on a matting pitch which made batting quite difficult with the matting becoming looser as the day progressed
North Taranaki had 46 minutes to score 139 to win the match outright
Seventeen runs were needed off the final over bowled by McCarthy with Pearson facing which went dot ball, 4, 2, dot ball, 2, dot ball, 4 and the last ball of the match was hit for 6 landing halfway up the southern terraces to achieve the win
