Hawke's Bay debut: DE Brian
This was Barry Mason's last match for Hawke's Bay because on 23 June 1952, at the age of just 23, he was thrown from his car and killed instantly when he went off the road and down a steep bank 24kms south of Wairoa. Mason took 77 wickets for Hawke's Bay at an average of 13.77, taking five wickets in an innings 4 times and taking 10 wickets in a match once.
