Due to a misunderstanding the Nelson team waited for over an hour after landing at Wellington airport expecting transport to have been arranged to take them to Fraser Park but eventually they took taxis with the match starting 20 minutes late at 10.50am
Off the first ball of the second over in the Nelson first innings, BD Coley, fielding in close on the leg side, was hit in the head by the ball from a pull shot by LB Reade which broke his glasses and he was taken to hospital where he had stitches put in a wound and he was unable to take any further part in the match
IN Brennan and GB Murphy added 98 for the fourth wicket in the Hutt Valley first innings
AJ Adair and G Brockelbank added 79 for the ninth wicket in the Hutt Valley first innings
Rain meant the players had to leave the field at 2.40pm on the second day and with 4pm being the scheduled finishing time to allow the Nelson players to catch their flight home, the captains agreed to end the match at that time
