Buckinghamshire won this low-scoring match by an innings at 12.50 pm on the second day, after Oxfordshire followed on 127 runs behind. For the winners, Nash took 10 wickets in the match for 71 runs and Saunders held 6 catches in the slips which equalled the record for the competition held by H P Justice for Oxfordshire v Wiltshire at Trowbridge in 1896. In the Buckinghamshire innings Cobb and Allcock added 50 runs for the eighth wicket. For the third time in his career, Cobb made 3 stumpings in an innings, and four in the match. C D Robinson, also for Buckinghamshire, had achieved both of these feats in 1895. The run aggregate of 332 was the second lowest of the season for a completed match. Once again press reports indicate there was some criticism of the durability of the pitch and the suitability of the ground for hosting two-day matches.
