This card comes from the Minor Counties Research Project
Oxfordshire won this return match by an innings and 159 runs just after 4.00 pm on the Tuesday, after Berkshire followed on 265 runs behind. The margin of victory was the second largest during the season. Berkshire had won the game between the two teams at Reading at the beginning of the month. For the winners, Bassett scored 112 and A Rogers 105, which contained 1 six, 10 fours, 5 threes and 10 twos. They put on 157 runs for the Oxfordshire fourth wicket, which was a new record partnership for the competition, surpassing the 148 added by C Y Adamson and F Simpson for Durham v Northamptonshire at Northampton in July. Press reports indicate that, while A Rogers's century was without a chance, Bassett gave two, including one early in his innings.
[Missing: Fall of wickets; in Oxfordshire inns full breakdown and duration of Bassett's 112, duration of A Rogers's 105, runs conceded by Berkshire bowlers 1 run in excess in all sources listed, and who bowled 3 no balls; in Berkshire 2nd inns part batting order.]
