Requiring 176 runs to win in 2 hours and ten minutes, Berkshire won by 3 wickets at 6.03 pm on the second day, thus reversing the result of the match at Reading in July. For the victors, Williams took 11 wickets for 149 runs. Collins scored 56 and Croome 51. For Wiltshire, Ransome top-scored with 76. In the Wiltshire first innings Miller and Smith added 59 runs for the seventh wicket. When Barrett dismissed Smith in the Wiltshire second innings, he reached the career milestone of one hundred wickets in the Championship.
