This return match was drawn after rain prevented any play on the first day. Northumberland had won the match at Norwich in June. For the visitors, there were 16 fours, 4 threes and 8 twos in Raven's 108 not out, an innings of 2 hours and 40 minutes. The innings of the match, however, was Greenway's 50 for the home team. According to the Newcastle Daily Journal, the innings lasted 18 minutes and he received 29 deliveries, scoring off 13 of them with 3 sixes, 7 fours 1 two and 2 ones. He hit all but 2 of the 52 runs added whilst he was at the wicket. The Eastern Daily Press account describes his innings as being of only 15 minutes duration.
