Wiltshire won this return match by seven wickets at 5.40 pm on the second day. Glamorgan had won the match between the two teams at Cardiff in May. For the winners Smith scored 92 not out, which included 1 six, 1 five and 10 fours, and Taunton scored 61. In the Wiltshire first innings, Smith and Ford added 58 runs for the last wicket. The size of the partnership between Taunton and Smith for the eighth wicket is not known, but it was over 50 and was possibly the highest of the season for that wicket. For Glamorgan, J H Brain top-scored with 49, containing 9 fours. During the Glamorgan second innings when keeping wicket, Ford suffered from a nose bleed. He left the field, Smart took over as wicket-keeper and J H Brain came on as the substitute fielder. The 4 catches held by Overton in the Glamorgan first innings were the joint most by a fielder during the season and equalled the Championship record achieved on 9 previous occasions.
