This return match was drawn. Northamptonshire had won the game between the two sides at Northampton earlier in the month. For the visitors, there were 17 fours, 4 threes and 11 twos in Thompson's 146, an innings of just under 3½ hours. Horton's 92 included 1 five and 9 fours, and Thompson's 55 not out contained 5 fours.
