Durham won with a minute to spare by three wickets at 6.59 pm on the second day, after being set a second innings victory target of 155 in 90 minutes. On the second day, rain delayed the start until 2.40 pm and prevented play between 3.45 and 5.30 pm. For the winners Elliot top scored with 48 not out. For Bedfordshire, Hodgkins's 86 contained 6 fours and Pollitt's 53 also included 6 fours. A curious incident arose at the end, the visiting scorer having signalled that Durham had won, and the players left the field, it was found that there were 151 not 155.
However, on going through the bowling analysis it was discovered that they had not credited one of the batsmen with a four, who was Elliott the scorer denoting his last 4 with a circle in the Durham scorebook.
