Durham won this return match by six wickets at 6.05 pm on the second day, having obtained the 207 runs required to win in just over two hours. The match between the two sides at Jesmond in June had also been won by Durham. On the first day, rain delayed the resumption of play after lunch by 45 minutes and stopped play just after 4.00 pm. For the winners, there were 2 sixes and 8 fours in E W Elliot's 96 not out, scored in 105 minutes. In the Durham second innings Elliot and Moorsom put on an undefeated 118 for the fifth wicket, which won the game for the home team. For Northumberland, Elsey took 7 wickets for 62 runs in the Durham first innings. Takings for the two days amounted to around £90.
