Drawn return match with Berkshire winning on first innings. The match had been set aside for the benefit of Watts. The Surrey 2nd XI declaration set Berkshire in their second innings 208 runs to win in 1½ hours, but a heavy rain storm broke in the interval and the match was abandoned. The match between the two teams at Reigate in June had been won by Surrey 2nd XI. For the home side, Collins's scored 81, Bennett 57 with 10 fours and E F Rowe 56 not out. For the visitors, Goatly scored 97, Spring 74 and Ducat 50. Goatly and Lawrence put on 144 for the first wicket in the second innings. In the Berkshire innings, when batting, Garnett accidentally hit the Surrey wicket-keeper, Vigar, who received a nasty wound over the eye and took no further part in the match. The Berkshire Captain allowed Stedman to act as his substitute. Bennett and Collins put on 111 for the first wicket. The 142 runs conceded by Hitch were the third most in an innings during the season.
