Berkshire won this return match by five wickets at 3.30 pm on the second day. The match between the two teams at Exeter in July had also been won by Berkshire. For the winners, Woodburn scored 75 not out, and there were 10 fours in Hill's 60. Belcher took 8 wickets in the match 102 runs. For Devon, Knight scored 61 not out. The debutant Wreford took 8 wickets in the match for 110 runs. The 31 maidens bowled by Hawksworth were the most in a match in the season, and the 16 maidens he bowled in the second innings the third highest in an innings. The four catches held by Cruwys in the Berkshire first innings were the joint highest of the season with four others.
