Staffordshire won this return match by 8 wickets on the second day with 22 minutes to spare having been set 107 runs to win in 1½ hours. The match at South Shields in June had also been won by Staffordshire. For the winners Meakin scored 74 which included 4 fours and 56 runs were added for the ninth wicket by Bucknell and Poole. For Durham Dales scored 56 which included 5 fours. Morris took 10 wickets in the match for 154 runs including 8 for 124 in the first innings.
