Hertfordshire won this match by an innings and 20 runs at 4.15 pm on the second day, after Norfolk had followed on 259 runs behind on first innings. For the winners, there were 13 fours and 9 threes in Golding's 139, 1 five, 7 fours and 6 threes in Anderson's 101, and 13 fours in Coleman's 86. Golding added 192 for the fourth wicket with Anderson and 139 for the fifth wicket with Coleman. Coleman took 9 wickets in the match for 127 runs. For Norfolk Stevens scored 123 in just over 2 hours which contained 1 six, 1 five, 14 fours and 4 threes. Stevens and Birkbeck put on 112 for the third wicket in the second innings. Allsopp did not bat in the Norfolk second innings due to a damaged thumb. The umpire Gregory was taken ill and replaced by "young Hearne".
