Norfolk won this return match by 10 wickets just after 3.00 pm on the second day, having enforced the follow on. The match between the two sides at Jesmond in July had been won by Northumberland. Norfolk reached 149 without loss by lunch on the first morning then 20 wickets fell during the rest of the day's play. Collinson's 139 lasted three hours 15 minutes and contained 1 six and 13 fours; M Falcon's 64 contained 7 fours. Collinson and Falcon had an opening partnership of 150 runs in the first innings. For the losers, Richardson's 52 lasted 94 minutes whilst Norbury took 7 for 71 in Norfolk's first innings. During Northumberland's second innings a ball hit Norbury's off stump but did not dislodge a bail.
