This match was drawn with Lincolnshire winning on first innings. The Northumberland declaration set Lincolnshire the task of scoring 252 runs to win the match in an hour and a quarter. Rain on the morning of the second day delayed the start until 1.00 pm and bad light stopped play after the visitors had batted for 40 minutes. A storm followed and the match was abandoned. For the home side, there were 4 sixes and 6 fours in Meldon's 81, scored in 1¼ hours, and 6 fours in Cumberlege's 81, an innings of 2½ hours. In the Northumberland second innings Cumberlege and Meldon put on 136 runs for the fourth wicket. Skinner took 6 wickets for 64 runs in the Lincolnshire first innings. For the visitors, there were 12 fours in Riley's 72 scored in 55 minutes. In the Lincolnshire first innings Riley and Rose added 51 runs for the seventh wicket. D V Norbury dropped out on the morning of the match and was replaced by T N Sample whose only previous appearance for the county was in 1899. He was never to play for the county again.
