Hertfordshire won this return match by 6 wickets on the second day after Bedfordshire followed on 132 runs behind on first innings. The match between the two sides at Bedford Modern School in June had also been won by Hertfordshire. For the winners, Coleman with his fast deliveries took 13 wickets in the match for 127 runs, with 7 wickets for 50 runs in the Bedfordshire first innings and 6 wickets for 77 runs in the second. There 8 fours in Golding's 69. For Bedfordshire Orr top-scored with 49. Wharmby received a nasty knock on his right hand in the Hertfordshire first innings which interfered with his batting and prevented him from bowling in the Hertfordshire second innings. In press reports, the fielding of Graham, Leventhorpe and Atkinson was highly commended.
